Little errors can quickly discredit the corporate eLearning project you worked so hard on for your learners.
Always make time for Quality Assurance (QA) testing.
Even for short, seemingly simple eLearning lessons, never skip the QA!
I've unfortunately been bitten by this a few times myself over the years. There's nothing worse than accidentally unchecking the correct answer right at the last minute in the background of the site when you were just trying to make one last tiny content edit. Or something else equally small but irritating.
As you QA your eLearning training courses, here are some basic things to look for:
Check punctuation, grammar, and spelling.
Ensure consistency in fonts and tone of voice.
Verify that all content loads as intended.
Make sure you can navigate safely all the way through the course.
Ensure that all links and interactive elements function smoothly.
Verify that question answers and feedback are correct and that quizzes are scoring properly.
This list is just a start that you'll likely add to.
Strive to head off any issues your training participants might encounter. We purposefully have a team member who is not an eLearning expert on our team.
We ask her to try to break everything we build.
That way we can find out what learners might run into and see our world from the outside looking in; a great way to ensure that the learning products we deliver will work for even the least experienced learners.
Not everything in the world of training is perfect.
But we can do our best to deliver quality eLearning and training products by insisting on Quality Assurance.
